Betawi Art and Culinary Brightens Up Palang Pintu Festival

2017 South Jakarta Mayor Vice Head, Irmansyah, officially opens Palang Pintu Kemang Festival. A variety of Betawi art and culinary are featured in the festival.

This can further introduce Betawi culture to the wider people

"We must be compact in maintaining Betawi culture and tolerance with other cultures in Jakarta," expressed Irmansyah, Saturday (5/6).

Bamus Betawi Chairman, Zainudin in his speech appreciates the festival. He stated, it is a positive event.

"This can further introduce Betawi culture to the wider people," he said.

There are 300 stands in the festival. Various culinary are presented, starting from food, drinks such as dodol (fudge), kerak telor (crust omelet) and bir pletok (a herbal drink from Jakarta). 

There are also seen Betawi souvenirs in stands such as ondel-ondel and Betawi batik. Various art performances are also displayed such as Betawi dance, palang pintu, lenong (comedy stage) and adu pantun (rhyming poetic).
